Hungry Mother State Park is located in southwestern Virginia in the town of Marion. The park was one of the first constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and opened in 1936.

A major feature of the park is the 108-acre Hungry Mother Lake. A boat launch provides lake access for paddle boats and electric-powered motorboats. Boat rentals are available during the summer season. The lake provides great fishing for crappie, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, muskellunge, sunfish and walleye.

Families can enjoy hiking on more than 12 miles of trails. Overnight camping is available in one of the campsites, cabins or the lodge. The park operates a restaurant and hours vary seasonally.
