Smith Rock State Park

Size:
651 acres

Smith Rock State Park is located in central Oregon on the high desert plateau. Within the park, the Crooked River winds through large rock spires formed by volcanic activity. The rock cliffs are internationally known for rock climbing and there are hundreds of climbing routes within the park.

There are several miles of hiking trails within Smith Rock State Park. Due to the sensitive geology and ecosystems, hikers are urged to stay on established trails. Hikers should be alert for rattlesnakes in the remote areas of the park. Horseback riding and mountain biking are permitted on certain trails.

The bivouac area provides tent camping about 150 feet away from the parking area. Central restrooms and showers are located near the lot. RVs, sleeping in vehicles and open fires are prohibited in the park. Properly licensed and leashed pets are permitted.
