Norvin Green State Forest is located in Ringwood New Jersey. The forest offers scenic vistas with views of the New York City skyline, Lake Sonoma and Burnt Meadow Brook.
Norvin Green provides great hiking for families and features some of the highest concentration of trails within the state. There are trails for families of all skill levels. The one-mile long Macopin trail is rated easy difficulty and is well suited to younger family members. The Lower, Otter Hole and Post Brook trails are medium difficulty and each range between 1 and 1.5 miles in length. The remaining trails are more difficult and often are longer in distance. Norvin Green State Forest also includes a portion of the Highlands Trail which, when completed, will connect the Delaware River to the Hudson River.
