Hartshorne Woods Park is located in northern Monmouth County, New Jersey in the Bayshore Region. It is bordered by the Navesink River to the south and the Upper Shrewsbury River to the north. The park is divided into three sections known as the Rocky Point Section, the Monmouth Hills Section and The Buttermilk Valley Section. Several old military bunkers are located within the park and there is a beach with fishing pier.
Families can enjoy hiking on the 16 miles of trails within Hartshorne Woods Park. Within the Rocky Point Section, the Lewis Overlook trail is easy while the Battery Loop trail, Black Fish Cove trail, Command Loop trail and Bunker Loop trail are moderate hikes. The Rocky Point Trail is a challenging 4.1-mile hike. Hiking in the Monmouth Hills section include the moderate Cuesta Ridge Trail and the challenging Grand Tour Trail which extends for 6 miles. Buttermilk Valley Section includes the easy Kings Hollow Trail and Candlestick Trails as well as the moderate Laurel Ridge Trail loop.
