Pisgah National Forest is located in western North Carolina and includes a portion of the southern Appalachian Mountains. Families can enjoy hiking along hundreds of miles of trails through hardwood forest. A series of campgrounds provide families with access to a number of campsites within the forest. There are designated equestrian campsites for those families taking on the forest on horseback.
Bent Creek, Davidson River and Mills River are prominent features within the forest. Fishing is popular in the streams, rivers, ponds and lakes. Paddle boating and tubing are popular family activities. Sliding Rock is a unique waterfall that family members can use like a natural water slide that dumps into an eight foot deep pool.
