Thousand Hills State Park is located in Adair County, Missouri in the northern part of the state. Major features of the park are the 703-acre Forrest Lake and Native American petroglyphs that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Forrest Lake provides families with a wealth of water recreation. Paddle boats and motor boats with outboards up to 90hp are permitted. A marina offers a convenience store and boat rentals. The lake also provides great fishing for largemouth bass, crappie, catfish and walleye.
Camping is another great family activity in Thousand Hills State Park. Two campgrounds offer 57 campsites, many of which have electrical hookups. Both campgrounds have modern restrooms, showers, water, a RV dump station and playground. There are also 7 duplex cabins overlooking the lake that are available for rent. The cabins are heated/air-conditioned and include kitchens, bathrooms, TVs and picnic tables.
There are over 10 miles within the park. There are three main hiking trails called the Oak Trail, Red Bud Trail and the Thousand Hills Trail, plus two connector trails.
