Kent Falls State Park is located in the northeastern part of Kent, Connecticut. The park is located in the Litchfield Hills, which is part of the southern Berkshire Mountains.
The focal point of the park is the series of waterfalls on a a tributary of the Housatonic River called Falls Brook that drop 250 feet in under a quarter mile. The largest cascade drops 70 feet into a reflecting pool. The falls are especially dramatic in the early spring after the snow melts and after a heavy rain.
The park was constructed by the Civil Works Administration in the 1930s and later underwent trail reconstruction by the Youth Conservation Corps of Connecticut in the 1970s. A covered bridge crosses the brook and is a reproduction of an earlier bridge.
Hiking is a popular activity within the park. The Kent Falls Trail is a 1/4-mile trail along the falls and is easy, yet steep. There are several observation platforms along the trail. Fishing is another popular family activity and trout are among the fish in the brook.
