Red Rock Canyon State Park is located in Kern County, California and is known for its stunning rock formations and scenic landscape. The area is dotted with Joshua trees and yucca plants. Due to its scenic desert beauty in close proximity to Los Angeles, Red Rock Canyon has been a filming location for a range of movies - especially Westerns.
Hiking and horseback riding are popular on the miles of trails within the park. Camping is available at 50 primitive campsites in the Ricardo Campground. Camping is first-come, first-served and there is no reservation system. The park's wildlife includes roadrunners, lizards, squirrels and hawks.
