Sourland Mountain Preserve is located in Hillsborough, New Jersey and is part of the Somerset County Park System. The preserve contains the northeast portion of the Sourland Region and features many outcrops.

The preserve offers family several opportunities within a quiet setting, including hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. The white-blazed Ridge Trail is 5 miles long and ranges in difficulty from easy to moderate. An extension to the trail extends to Roaring Brook and a large boulder field.

Amongst the Loess Hills in western Iowa is Stone State Park. The park is located in the northwestern corner of Sioux City and is considered an Urban Wildlife Sanctuary. The park is named for Thomas Jefferson Stone who purchased the Talbot Farm to develop into a park. The land was later sold to Sioux City, who, in turn, sold it to the state of Iowa.
