Located just a few minutes from downtown Freeport, Maine, Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park provides a tranquil, natural retreat. The land for the park was a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence M. C. Smith and the park itself opened in 1972. Wolfe's Neck is a wooded peninsula (the "neck") between the Harraseeket River and Casco Bay and is named for original settlers Henry and Rachel Woolfe. The park includes a variety of ecosystems, including white pine and hemlock forests, open fields, salt marsh and rocky coastline.

Barefoot Beach Preserve County Park is located on a barrier island in Southwest Florida's Gulf Coast and is part of the Collier County park system. The park features 8200 feet of beach on the Gulf of Mexico that is popular for swimming and fishing. Little Hickory Bay and Wiggins Pass are other major water features within the preserve.

Lovers Key State Park is located on the Gulf Coast of Florida. The park is comprised of four barrier islands, including its namesake. The islands were once accessible only by boat, but now a series of bridges make them accessible by land.

A two mile beach on Lovers Key is a popular destination for swimming. The waters surrounding the islands are popular for canoeing and kayaking. Boats can be rented at the park's concession building. There is also great fishing for tarpon, trout and redfish.

Siuslaw National Forest is located in western Oregon and includes a variety ecosystems, such as sandy beaches and coastline forests. The forest contains Marys Peak, which is the 4097 feet high above sea level and is the highest peak in the Oregon Coast Range.

There are multiple areas within the forest, including Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, Sand Lake Recreation Area, Rock Creek Wilderness Area and Marys Peak Scenic Botanical Area.

Meaher State Park is located in the wetlands of Mobile Bay in southern Alabama. The Mobile Delta consists of over 20,000 acres of water and is formed by the Alabama and Tombigbee Rivers.

A fishing pier and boat launch in the Blakely River provide families with access to great angling. Two nature trails provide hiking, birding and wildlife viewing. A variety of birds can be viewed from the nature trails, including wading birds, terns, osprey and ducks.

Adirondack Park is located in Northeast New York. The park protects the lands surrounding the Adirondack Mountain range and includes several major lakes, such as Lake George and Lake Placid.
