Hartshorne Woods Park is located in northern Monmouth County, New Jersey in the Bayshore Region. It is bordered by the Navesink River to the south and the Upper Shrewsbury River to the north. The park is divided into three sections known as the Rocky Point Section, the Monmouth Hills Section and The Buttermilk Valley Section. Several old military bunkers are located within the park and there is a beach with fishing pier.

J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge is located on Sanibel Island, Florida and protects 5200 acres of undeveloped mangrove ecosystem. The refuge is named for Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist, J. N. "Ding" Darling, who became a major voice in the conservation movement. He conceived of the Federal Duck Stamp program, which raises money for wetland conservation, and illustrated the first stamp. Darling was appointed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to be the U.S.

Joshua Tree National Park is located in southern California and protects desert area filled with the park's namesake Joshua trees. The park covers an area larger than the state of Rhode Island and includes portions of two deserts, the Mojave Desert and the Colorado Desert. Jekyll Island is a barrier island on Georgia's coast that is located midway between Savannah and Jacksonville, Florida. The island is owned by state of Georgia and operated by the Jekyll Island Authority. Development is limited to 35 percent of the island, preserving most of it as native ecosystem.

Humboldt Lagoons State Park protects three lagoons on the Pacific Coast in northwest California which are part of the nation's largest lagoon system. Big Lagoon is the largest lagoon and located to the south, Stone Lagoon is located in the middle, and Freshwater Lagoon is the smallest and northernmost lagoon. Dry Lagoon was previously drained by farmers and is now a wetland area.

The Middlesex Greenway is a 3.5 mile trail located in Middlesex County, New Jersey. The trail is located on an abandoned portion of Lehigh Valley rail corridor and the Middlesex County purchased the land in 2002 as a rails to trails project. The trail was officially dedicated on September 15, 2012.
