Silver Lake State Park is located in Oceana County, Michigan on Lake Michigan. The park is comprised of dune ridges and mature forest.

A popular feature of the park is the 450-acre off-road vehicle (ORV) area. The ORV area has trails for motorcycles, ATVs and larger ORVs. Specific regulations apply and families should review regulations before operating ORVs within the park.

Silver Lake campground offers 200 campsites with electrical hookups. The campground has modern restrooms and dumpsters.

Banning State Park is located in Eastern Minnesota. The park resides within a shallow valley carved by the Kettle River and has many glacial potholes created by the Wisconsin glaciation thousands of years ago.

The river is a focal point of the park and provides a variety of water recreation. It is a popular place for canoeing and kayaking and features a 1.5-mile stretch of rapids, some of which are Class IV. Fishing is also a popular activity and record sturgeon have been caught in Kettle River.

Thousand Hills State Park is located in Adair County, Missouri in the northern part of the state. Major features of the park are the 703-acre Forrest Lake and Native American petroglyphs that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park protects 70 miles of shoreline around Charlotte Harbor in southwest Florida. Most of the preserve is comprised of marshes, mangrove forests, scrubland and upland forest.

Kayaking or canoeing is a great way to explore Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park. Hiking is another popular activity for families and there are several miles of trails. Families are urged to bring plenty of water and insect repellant.

Lovers Key State Park is located on the Gulf Coast of Florida. The park is comprised of four barrier islands, including its namesake. The islands were once accessible only by boat, but now a series of bridges make them accessible by land.

A two mile beach on Lovers Key is a popular destination for swimming. The waters surrounding the islands are popular for canoeing and kayaking. Boats can be rented at the park's concession building. There is also great fishing for tarpon, trout and redfish.

Jericho Mountain State Park is located in the White Mountains in New Hampshire. A major feature of the park is Jericho Lake, a flood control reservoir that controls the water flow of the Dead River.

The park was created in 2005 and is still being developed. The park is currently for day use and there are plans to develop a campground with up to 200 campsites.

Smith Rock State Park is located in central Oregon on the high desert plateau. Within the park, the Crooked River winds through large rock spires formed by volcanic activity. The rock cliffs are internationally known for rock climbing and there are hundreds of climbing routes within the park.

Kent Falls State Park is located in the northeastern part of Kent, Connecticut. The park is located in the Litchfield Hills, which is part of the southern Berkshire Mountains.

The focal point of the park is the series of waterfalls on a a tributary of the Housatonic River called Falls Brook that drop 250 feet in under a quarter mile. The largest cascade drops 70 feet into a reflecting pool. The falls are especially dramatic in the early spring after the snow melts and after a heavy rain.
