Hungry Mother State Park is located in southwestern Virginia in the town of Marion. The park was one of the first constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and opened in 1936.

Gillette Castle State Park is located in the towns of East Haddam and Lyme, Connecticut and overlooks the Connecticut River. The park is located on a former estate named Seven Sisters that was owned by late actor William Gillette. It was the seventh National Park to be established in the United States and the first cave to be designated a national park anywhere in the world. Wind Cave is the fifth-longest cave system in the world and 137 miles of caves have been explored.
