Mason Neck State Park is located in Fairfax County, Virginia and is about 20 miles from Washington, D.C. The park is located on a peninsula formed by Pohick Bay, Belmont Bay and the Potomac River.

There are 7 miles of trails, including 4 miles of unpaved hiking trails and 3 miles of paved paths for mixed use. The park is for day use only and there are no overnight facilities.

Valley Forge National Historical Park is located in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. The site has historical significance for being the site of the 1777-78 winter encampment of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. During that winter, 12,000 troops were stationed here and General George Washington commissioned Baron Friedrich von Steuben to provide the Continental Army with professional military training that was important to their later successes against the British.
