Turtle Back Zoo Family Nights This Summer

Essex County, New Jersey's Turtle Back Zoo will be hosting Family Nights every Wednesday between 6/29 and 8/31. Family Nights will include extended hours until 8:00 pm and offer fun, affordable summer evenings.

During these special evenings, families can enjoy discounted admission rates, dinner specials from the Zoo Café and live music from area acts. Best of all, families can share this fun with all of the animals of the zoo.

Premier of WGCU Curious Kids TV Show

Curious Kids is a new show was launched this spring by WGCU in Florida with the mission of teaching children about the interconnectedness of our world. Songwriter/Environmental Educator, Rosie Emery, was part of the development team.

Becoming an Outdoor Family in Vermont

Gordon Raupp Memorial / Kiwanis Fishing Derby at Randolph Park

On Saturday May 7, 2011, the annual Gordon Raupp Memorial/Kiwanis Fishing Derby will be held at Randolph Park from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Prizes will be awarded for Biggest Fish, Smallest Fish and Heaviest Fish in three age groups:

  • 6 and under
  • 10 and under
  • 15 and under

Registration is at Randolph Park on the day of the event. Participants need to bring their own fishing gear. Contact the Randolph Recreation Department at (973) 989-7081 for more information.

First Annual National Kids to Parks Day is May 21 2011

Washington, D.C. — Children are encouraged to take part in a grassroots movement to celebrate America’s parks through play in the National Park Trust’s (NPT) first annual National Kids to Parks Day on May 21, 2011. A national kick-off event for Kids to Parks is planned for the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on Friday, May 20, 2011. Kids can enjoy fun in one of our country's national parks, state parks or local parks.

Spring is finally here. Many insects, like the Monarch Butterfly, hibernate or migrate to other countries during winter. When spring arises, they are ready to eat and mate. This is also the time much of our wildlife is coming back out and raising their offspring.

Bass Pro Shops Offers Free Easter Family Fun

Springfield, Missouri — Bass Pro Shops will be holding free, fun Easter activities for the whole family from April 16th - 24th at stores across their chain. There are fun crafts for kids, visits with the Easter Bunny and the time-honored tradition of an Easter Egg Hunt.

On the weekends of April 16th-17th and 23rd - 24th, kids can have a free 4x6 photo taken with the Easter Bunny from 11am to 3pm. On those days, Easter Egg hunt for kids ages 2-10 will be held rom 1-2pm. Photos with the Easter Bunny are also available Monday through Friday, April 18th - 22nd from 6-8pm.
