The University of Vermont Extension and the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources are jointly offering their 14th annual Becoming an Outdoor Family program on June 3rd through 5th at Stillwater State Park. The program is designed to promote environmental conservation and to provide families with a basic understanding of safety and fun in the outdoors.
Participating families can camp in the park and attend a variety of hands-on classes related to the outdoors. Class topics includes wildlife, hiking, camping, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, forestry, orienteering skills, wildlife photography and fitness.
The cost of the program is $165 per family and includes campsite, instruction and class materials. Families are required to provide their own food and camping gear for the weekend. Registration and campsite selection are handled on a first come, first served basis.
