Turtle Back Zoo Features Medieval Times to Welcome Komodo Dragon

To celebrate the arrival of our their komodo dragon and the Chinese "Year of the Dragon", performers from Medieval Times be visiting the Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange New Jersey. Performances at 11:00am, 12:30pm and 2:00pm and the rain date is July 21st.

Great American Backyard Campout 2012 Scheduled for June 23

Over the last two decades, kids have been spending less time outdoors are now spend more than seven hours per day in front of electronic media. The American Academy of Pediatrics cautions parents to limit their kids' screen time and studies indicate that time spent outdoors enables children to increase physical fitness, improve creativity, increase attention spans and enhance classroom performance.

USDA Forest Service Commits $1 Million to Get Kids Outdoors

Agency conservation education grants will benefit children's projects in 18 states

 
On March 2nd, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced the USDA's $1 million in cost-share funding from the U.S. Forest Service to enhance children's programs in 18 states. The programs encourage kids to connect to the outdoors and explore nature. These Forest Service grants coincide with President Obama's America's Great Outdoors initiative and Michelle Obama's Let's Move! program.

Merrell Encourages Outdoor Recreation through 2012 Mud Runs

Merrell extended its multi-year deal with Michael Epstein Sports Productions (MESP) as title sponsor of the Merrell Down & Dirty National Mud and Obstacle Series. Racers compete on either 5K or 10K courses that feature military-style obstacles, mud crawls, and strength challenges. Smaller family members can participate in the fun with an Adventure Kids one-mile mud run or a shorter adventure dash that end in a large mud pit where they crawl to the finish line. The racing series premiered in 2010 and the 2012 tour expands to ten markets across the country.

Turtle Back Zoo Family Nights This Summer
